Systems & Network Administrator
Our client is a financial services sector company employing around 275 users across 10 offices around the country. The network consists of a centralised head office in Dublin with around 120 users and the rest of the workforce spread around smaller branch offices. The newly implemented network infrastructure is based on leading edge Microsoft technologies including Microsoft Hyper-V, Windows Server 2008, Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 and the latest range of Microsoft Systems Centre products. The primary hardware platform is HP. The primary server infrastructure is based on the HP DL range of servers. Core switching technology is HP ProCurve based.
The current infrastructure of the IT department itself is the Director of IT has responsibility for all group IT strategy and operations. A Technical Lead consultant has responsibility for technical planning and implementation. Internal level 2 engineers provide on-site end user support and an externally contracted level 1 service desk manages initial end user support requests and trouble ticket management.
The client is currently looking to employ an in-house Systems & Network Level 3 Support Engineer to take responsibility for managing and monitoring the IT infrastructure. This individual will have the opportunity to work in an environment that is deploying leading edge systems technologies. A strong background of working with a Microsoft System based environment and knowledge of Microsoft Systems Centre Suite would be a distinct advantage. The role would suit an individual looking to pursue a career as a systems administrator and develop a high level of expertise in a broad range of Microsoft Systems and networking technologies.
Roles

Management and administration of server platforms (physical & virtual)

Management and administration of corporate network infrastructure including corporate firewalls (Juniper), routers (Cisco) and switches (Netgear & HP ProCurve)

Management and administration of the corporate storage infrastructure:
- Support of data archiving systems
- Support of backup infrastructure and execution -
Enterprise Application support e.g. Exchange 2010, SQL Server 2005/2008, SharePoint 2010, Integra financials, SoftCo Document Management.

Work with management and other IT staff on implementation of IT strategy e.g. Security, Desktop Replacement and Disaster Recovery.

Liaise with external service providers, service desk and infrastructure support teams.

Document FAQ's and IT information for both IT staff as well as user community:
- Support of helpdesk for appropriate level requests
- Management and maintenance of corporate data centre facility
- Liaison with third party suppliers and managed service partners in problem resolution
Competencies required
- Minimum 4+ years system and networking administration experience in a Microsoft Windows Server networking environment. Relevant professional certification, Microsoft Certified status an advantage.
- Strong OS and application systems knowledge with
- Microsoft Windows Server
- Hyper V & Virtualisation
- Microsoft System Centre suite an advantage - Strong hardware network technologies knowledge an advantage
- Network Server, Network switching and Storage Array technology - Senior level in Windows system administration including TCP/IP, Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP
- Knowledge of Windows Systems Platforms & Active Directory domains and configurations required
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize with department and corporate goals in mind
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and tactically while acting independently under management guidance
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and can multitask by juggling priorities set up by management
- Strong inter-personal and communication skills, team player able to provide technical leadership in IT group

Special working conditions:
- May require periodic travel to branch offices
- May require scheduled out of hours & weekend network/system maintenance work
Remuneration
- Salary circa 50-60K, 21 days holidays.
