Children's Medical and Research Foundation | IT Force

IT Force is proud to support the Children’s Medical and Research Foundation. The Children’s Medical & Research Foundation has been at the heart of Irish paediatric care, dedicated to the improvement of children’s health since 1965. We recently organised a Firewalk Challenge Fundraiser and raised €15,000 for the CMRF.

The IT Force fundraising efforts have been donated to help upgrade the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit in St John’s Ward of Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin. For children with cancer whose bodies aren’t creating the healthy blood cells that they rely on, Bone Marrow Transplant is a critical and hugely delicate procedure. It’s an intensive, challenging treatment, and the child’s young life hangs in the balance. In Ireland there are on average 150 children diagnosed yearly with cancer and approximately 30 BMT performed yearly.

The Children's Medical & Research Foundation has one simple mission-helping kids and their families. The CMRF wants patients and their families to walk through the doors of Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin and have access to the very best facilities and equipment. And, when the doctors and nurses and clinicians investigate the causes and treatments of illnesses and disease at the National Children's Research Centre that they have the best labs and equipment at their disposal to continue to narrow the distance between what might seem impossible today to delivering tomorrow's cures.

A few words from CMRF:

"On behalf of The Children’s Medical & Research Foundation, Crumlin we would like to thank the staff and supporters of IT Force and Redco who took part in a Firewalk challenge on behalf of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin in March 2012.  The staff raised a staggering €15,000 on behalf of the children attending St. John’s Ward, the Cancer ward at Our Lady’s and we are immensely grateful for this incredible contribution.

The staff of IT Force and Redco walked over hot coals to raise money sick children who face insurmountable challenges themselves on a daily basis.  Every penny donated will go towards the refurbishment of St. John’s Ward.  This refurbishment project is due to commence in April 2012 and it involves the construction of a new state of the art 4 bedded Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, 7 En-suite rooms, an adolescent den and the modernisation of general support areas for parents and staff.  This refurbishment project will make a substantial difference to the lives of both our young patients and their families during their treatment and time spent in St. John’s Ward.

Thank you again to all of the staff of IT Force and Redco for their very generous contribution towards improving the facilities for our patients and the staff at OLCHC."

Environment

IT Force has adopted a formal Green strategy that requires us to scrutinise internal operations and adopt greener approaches to doing business and running our organisation. This relates to employee commuting, business travel, waste management and adopting more eco-friendly business operations (e.g. printing, procurement, switching to greener suppliers).

CarbonNeutral® CertificationCarbonNeutral

IT Force has achieved the CarbonNeutral® company certification by working with The CarbonNeutral Company, a world-leading provider of carbon reduction solutions, to measure and reduce its CO2 emissions. Please see our CarbonNeutral page for more information.

Commuting and Business Travel

Due to our central location, IT Force staff utilise the public transport network as much as possible instead of relying on private transportation.  The company heavily promotes the TaxSaver initiative to employees to encourage them to adopt public transport more often. Staff also makes use of the Dublin Bike scheme for short, scheduled trips around client sites.  We can also deliver 70-80% of our core services via remote technology and support or via staff based on client sites.

Printing and Paper Reduction

IT Force implemented a print management strategy to reduce the amount of printing devices, eliminate unnecessary printing and foster duplex printing and the smarter use of printing resources across the company. As part of a green-switch programme with our suppliers, we also purchase recycled paper and have vastly reduced the amount we use on a given month.
