Our client, based in Dublin 1 is seeking an experienced desktop engineer for a contract position.
Skillset required is listed below.
Candidates will likely be MCSE/MCITP qualified.
The main duties involved include:
Provision of technical support to client staff to facilitate delivery of business processes
using the following systems:
- Hardware: Desktop / Laptop / Printers / Servers / Switches
- Software: VMware / Microsoft Operating Systems / Standard MS Office suite / Bespoke applications / Website Technologies
- Communication Systems: VoIP / Mobile / eMail
- Mission Critical systems: Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery
- High quality, customer support is to be provided in accordance with the client’s IT Service delivery framework.
- Perform proactive / preventative monitoring and maintenance on all systems and applications as appropriate;
- Assist with generation of IT management information;
- Assist in project delivery as required by the IT manager;
- Co-ordinate with the management team to identify opportunities and establish priorities for IT development and to plan, review, evaluate, and report on all IT activities. Work with other units as appropriate, on issues of hardware, software and security that affect the client;
- Provide user friendly IT training to staff on a group and individual basis. This training is to be tailored to individuals’ needs and level of competence;
- Share with colleagues information regarding new procedures and developments as well as demonstrate problem solving ability;
- Ensure compliance with the client’s IT policy framework;
- Perform updates to the client’s Internet and Intranet facilities as required;
- Develop a comprehensive and detailed working knowledge of the client’s applications (both standard and bespoke).
Also,
project support assistance will be required on an ad-hoc basis depending on the
client’s project schedule.
The main responsibilities of this role include:
- Assist the management team to plan and implement the client’s IT strategy and achieve the strategic goals of the client;
- Assist in the development and documentation of solutions, processes, procedures and IT policies;
- Assist with all stages of projects
- Systems design / architecture
- Requirements gathering / analysis
- Vendor / system selection
- System Testing / implementation / Rollout / Review
- Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with IT vendors.
