Top 50 Most Common Passwords used for LinkedIn

June 8th 2016

Cyber Security and passwords are becoming front page news more and more often. It was found only last month that Login credentials for as many as 117 million LinkedIn accounts were put up for sale online. It seems that these details came from a 2012 breach of the LinkedIn career networking site.

Below are the most commonly used passwords and they reveal a spectacular lack of care on the part of users of LinkedIn but also on the side of LinkedIn for allowing them passwords to be used in the first place.

In the wake of software provider LinkedIn’s 117 million usernames and passwords leak, Netflix late last week sent password resets to those who used their Netflix password on LinkedIn.

Netflix is taking this step because it knows from experience that cybercriminals will be using the credentials leaked from LinkedIn to see if they work on a variety of third-party sites.

Some very simple steps can be followed to improve your password security, from generating a new password frequently, having multiple passwords and using a strong password e.g. a mixture of old phone numbers, area codes and postal address.
