IT Resourcing: A Range of Services at your Call

June 18th 2013

Report by Dermot Corrigan, Sunday Business Post, 2nd June 2013.

Resourcing providers typically offer clients a menu of different skills levels, technology, specialisations, certifications and experience to help clients in the best, most cost-effective manner possible.
The IT resources supplied generally tend to be highly skilled professionals with significant experience in their area of specialisation, however mid-level and lower-level individuals can also be made available where and when required.

Some of the more popular roles which are covered by resourcing providers are programme and project managers, and business and systems analysts. Lead developers, developers and testers can be supplied for a particular software project, for example.

Joe O'Reilly, director of IT contracting, IT Force, said that keeping particular skills and certifications up to date was an important consideration for the resourcing provider.

"All resourcing staff are proactively managed and would have clear KPI [key performance indicators] and training or personal development goals," said O'Reilly. "Regular review would also take place with the client to ensure client satisfaction and to identify any areas where training may be required. In this way the client is happy, the resource is continuously upskilling himself and we have up-to-date certified staff with relevant practical experience."

Resourcing providers in the Irish market can range from specialist arms of large recruitment or consulting organisations to indigenous providers who concentrate on particular niche technology areas.

O'Reilly said focusing on particular areas could give resource providers a competitive advantage in their chosen speciality.

"Our key area of focus is the provision of infrastructure and project manager specialist," said O'Reilly. "We have built a large database of experienced resources in this field. We can also augment this pool of resources with resources from our managed services division."
